Many of the 50cc scoots are sold as being "restricted" fromt he factory. It allowed the dealer to sell them without requiring a m/c license and it could be registered as a moped. Many shops will destrict a scooter if you ask,
You can do some searches about this subject as there are different mechanisms the factory used to restrict performance. The simplest is to remove any restriction washers or bushings in the CVT, second is to modify or replace the CDI. Modifications (mods) to the muffler/pipe and re-jetting may improve performance (meaning they MAY not be required, but sometimes are) but not as much as the first two items.
Do some research or call a REPUTABLE scooter mechanic.
There are two simple restrictors in most mopeds, the most simple one: remove air filter and there should be a metal restrictor which will be a ring with small holes in it, and there is one in the exhaust. simply remove the exhaust from the engine head, then there is a small restrictor that makes the piston head end of the exhaust smaller. hit the weld of it with a hammer and screw- driver or chisel and it will come out with a small pull of a pair of pliers. I hope this helped
