YES< Go to your DMV, Take the title with you, they will know how to do the paperwork…
WHILE you are there, pick up a copy of your states` Motorcycle manual, as you will need to learn it so you can take the tests to get your motorcycle endorsement.
(sidenote) The motorcycle endorsement is required on anything at least 50ccs that exceed 30mph!
The Elite 80 is the smallest scooter that Federal DOT rules allow 2-up riding.
To operate any motor vehicle on a public roadway, you must be licensed. Also, in most states you need to be 16. This may vary from state to state. Use your states postal abbreviation with a .gov such as wv.gov and follow the links to find out what is and what is not required.
It may be different in other states, but I have seen anything over 50 CC’s in engine size gets registered & you need a motorcycle licence.
in CA you do
Yep, all 50 states. The elite 80 is a motorcycle, hands down!
Yes
Every state says an 80cc displacement is a motorcycle under the law, and not a moped
(50cc and under in some states are considered mopeds and are exempt)
Most states will require you to register anything with a motor, period, with a few exceptions.
That being said, most states are going to require you to register the Honda Elite 80 as a motorcycle due to it being able to exceed 30 MPH and having an engine larger than 50cc. That also means that you’ll want to obtain a motorcycle license in order to legally ride the bike. Many states will allow you to obtain a learner’s permit by passing a written test and paying a small fee if you already have a driver’s license for a car.
Depending on your state, taking a Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic RiderCourse will allow you to waive the DMV skills test, and many insurance companies will also give you a small discount on insurance if you pass.
The course is usually taught either over a weekend or over several afternoons or evenings. I highly recommend taking one to anyone who is riding a powered two wheeled vehicle.
